UCC United went down 6-1 to Freescale last Sunday morning in the Farm.
It was a familiar story for UCC United, who squandered several gilt-edged chances and undeservedly went in at the break a goal down. The Freescale goal came when a shot from the right hand side of the penalty box bounced over the hand of stand-in keeper Gordon McAlester.
UCC United imploded early in the second half and conceded 3 further goals in the space of 15 minutes after the start. The goals were well taken and based on quick breaks out of defence by Freescale as UCC United continued to squander chance after chance.
With their morale well down the college side conceded a further two goals before Joe Tobin pulled one back with a well taken effort 10 minutes from time.
It was definitely one to forget for UCC United. Especially as they lost mainstay Marcel de Kruijf to a very serious injury within the first 5 minutes of the game. The Dutchman will be in plaster for 2/3 weeks but all will be happy to know his hair was unaffected.
UCC United: G. McAlester; D. Jordan, L. Weeks, D. Kiely, M. de Kruijf (M. Copley); M. Rae, N. Browne, G. Kinsley, D. Soden; J. Eakins, M. Liang (J. Tobin).
