UCC United v Supervalu
Saturday 28 November at the Farm
UCC United 2 (Power pen, Kinsley)
Supervalu 0
UCC United continued their recent run of good form with a convincing victory over Supervalu at the Farm on Saturday. The win takes UCC to sixth place in the league table after an unbeaten run in November. Normally slow starters, UCC went a goal up inside the first ten minutes when Aidan Power expertly converted a penalty after Pablo Alvarez was fouled in the box. Thereafter UCC played some sparkling football in what was easily their best performance of the season. The only disappointment for manager Declan Jordan was that his side failed to build on the lead before the break. Power had a great opportunity but was denied by a brilliant double save by the overworked Supervalu goalkeeper.
The second goal that UCC craved came ten minutes into the second half and what a beauty it was! Will Pierce released David Lejon on the right wing and his fantastic low cross was tucked away at the far post by Gavin Kinsley. Though Supervalu never gave up, the game was now effectively over as a contest and college drove on in search of further goals. Fernando Hernando's great effort was saved wonderfully and John Devaney's snapshot trickled agonisingly wide.
