UCC United made their debut in the FAI Junior Cup against Mallow United at the Farm on Saturday (September 15). UCC United were presented with a tough draw for the first game in teh competition against Munster Junior League Division 1 team from Mallow. The visitors ran out comfortable 7-1 winners in the end - but on the hour it seemed an upset was possible with the score at 2-1. Marcas McCionnaigh was harshly dismissed for a second bookable offence and the visitors from Mallow took full advantage - even scoring from the resulting free-kick. The floodgates opened subsequently.
UCC United's goal was scored by Marcel de Kruijf who got on the scoresheet for the second week in a row.
