After getting a walk-over last week, UCC United took another three points but this time it was won on the field. The College side came out on the right side of a 3-2 scoreline against bottom club Centra FC. Two goals from Mark Copley either side of a Gavin Kinsley effort gave UCC United a much needed victory.
It was not all plain sailing however as Centra twice reduced a two goal lead to push UCC United all the way. Centra have been unable to secure any points since a draw on the first day of the season but on the evidence of Saturday and the close results they have experienced lately it's likely they will catch a couple of teams and take points off them. UCC United are glad to have taken 6 points from the clubs' meetings this year.
It is up to UCC United now to build on this little fillip to pull themselves away from the foot of the table. A few more wins will bring them to mid-table which will be an acceptable outcome in their inaugural season.
